SPIRITS OF MANY KINDS. Said to have ties to the mob, the Supper Club was housed in the basement, where quite a few men were beaten to death with bats. Even before the Olympus Hotel, it carried a bad reputation as the Theatre Comique and gambling hall, run by Harry Morgan, a man who controlled just about anything illegal, even the local police. So finding a troublesome spirit here would seem fitting. Many report strange sounds, animated objects, and disembodied voices on the lower levels. (TPL.)

BODEGA SALOON. Those looking to drink, gamble, or partake in illegal activities could visit the Bodega Saloon, built in 1889. The City of Tacoma made many attempts to close down the seedy establishment, where women abided in the hotel rooms upstairs, having drinks and men sent to them. Tunnels were discovered running under the building and down to the bay through which young men were shanghaied and sent off to sea against their will. (AC.)
